Message
from the President
KMEK members and
friends,
Hope December is off to a great start for each of you! I really enjoyed caroling at Botanica with many of you on the 2nd. What fun it is just to sing together! I am getting incredibly excited for all that
is coming in our near future. I think
KMEK is moving in a great direction and can’t wait to share with you everything
that is going on for our conference in the fall!
I hope that all of you have a wonderful Christmas and New
Years and I can’t wait to see you on the 12th at the Copper Oven!

February 2nd Workshop with John Feierabend

FIRST STEPS IN MUSIC: BECOMING
TUNEFUL, BEATFUL AND ARTFUL
This
workshop will provide a bridge from research to practice by demonstrating how a
"natural" curriculum, rich in the repertoire of traditional
children's songs, rhymes, games and dances can develop young children's musical
intelligence, singing and movement skills and expressive sensitivities. A
model of parents and children playing together in the years from birth to age
three will be presented as well as a curriculum for 3 to 8 year old children in
classroom settings.
Workshop to be held at First Evangelical Free Church (1825 N.

May 3rd, Our 2nd Favorite Singing Games
and Folk Dances Sharing Time and Spring Meeting
Many of you
have commented how fun it was to get together and play singing games and dance
at Gloria Dei last fall. So, we would
like to have another sharing time.
Please think of some wonderful games and dances that you would like to
share and then you may sign up for those by sending the name of the game/dance
and the directions to Lisa (to avoid having 2 people sharing the same dance
and also to get the handout started).
